Nominations for the Just IT Apprenticeship Awards closed on Friday 8th of February – another bumper year for great submissions! So, it was onto the judging.
We were lucky again this year to have a fantastic judging panel of industry experts. All were impressed by the apprentice success stories submitted across all categories – making for an incredibly challenging shortlisting process!
It was a very inspiring session, as the judges reviewed the countless great comments about so many inspiring people who we cannot wait to celebrate at the awards ceremony!
Judging took place on 12th of February, with Just IT CEO Simon Perriton leading the panel as the judges discussed the inspiring stories of dedicated, driven and determined apprentices, and their employers.
The Judging Panel
Our judging panel is formed of a range of experts, with experience spanning across education, IT and the digital industries.
Richard is Programme Director at BCS. He heads-up the design, development and delivery of the independent national standards for professional technical recognition for IT workers. Richard leads the BCS programmes in partnership with industry, the Gatsby Charitable Foundation and the UK Government’s new digital trailblazer apprenticeship standards.
David Wackett is Industry Manager for IT and Digital qualifications and apprenticeships at City & Guilds. He has over 25 years’ experience in education, having taught Business Studies at a sixth form college in Birmingham before working in qualification and assessment development for the last 10 years. David has experience of managing qualifications across a diverse range of sectors, including Teaching and Learning, Transport, Business Skills and Employability, as well as IT and Digital. In his current role, David works closely with employers and industry bodies to help meet the current and future learning and training needs for the Digital sector.
Sophie joined CompTIA in 2015 as a Marketing Intern and now manages CompTIA’s marketing strategy across EMEA. The IT Apprenticeship landscape has changed phenomenally since 2015 and Sophie feels privileged to have been a part of the efforts to develop tech talent and bridge the skills gap in the IT sector. IT is an exciting and progressive industry and Apprenticeships are helping open the door to many exciting careers.
Toyin has been with Just IT for over ten years, spending much of this time as a careers support manager, and as such has helped hundreds of apprentices to achieve and move on in their careers. Toyin now works as Operations Manager, managing the overall delivery of level 3, 4 and 5 Leadership and Management Apprenticeship Standard programmes.
