Nominations for the Just IT Apprenticeship Awards closed on Friday 9th February. The judges were impressed with the amount of apprentice success stories from so many nominations and found it difficult to shortlist in each category. There were countless great comments about so many inspiring people who we cannot wait to celebrate at the awards ceremony!
Judging took place on 14th February, the perfect day to celebrate our love of the apprenticeship programme! Simon Perriton CEO of Just IT lead the panel as the judges discussed the inspiring stories of dedicated, driven and determined apprentices. Here is a taster of just some of the comments found in the nominations:
‘What has impressed me most is his maturity, eagerness to learn technology and his customer service skills when dealing with his fellow colleagues who he supports.’
‘She is a great asset to our company and we can see her going from strength to strength in her role.’
‘Right from the first week I knew I had struck gold. He is professional, intelligent and totally committed.’
‘She solved an issue as an apprentice which was not thought of by full-time staff members working for the organisation for a number of years.’
Who is our judging panel?
Our judging panel represents a wide range of experience across education, IT and the digital industries.
David Wackett is Industry Manager for IT and Digital qualifications and apprenticeships at City & Guilds. He has over 25 years’ experience in education, having taught Business Studies at a sixth form college in Birmingham before working in qualification and assessment development for the last 10 years. David has experience of managing qualifications across a diverse range of sectors, including Teaching and Learning, Transport, Business Skills and Employability, as well as IT and Digital. In his current role, David works closely with employers and industry bodies to help meet the current and future learning and training needs for the Digital sector.
Zeshan is CompTIA’s Certification Evangelist. He is fanatical learner with a passion for ensuring IT certifications are the cornerstone of all learning and development programmes. With a background in digital and IT Apprenticeship programmes, Zeshan has worked at the forefront of programme design, curriculum development and technical training.
After serving 23 years in the military, John left to establish a training provision offering the IT Digital and Professional qualifications and apprenticeships. In 2013 he started working with the employers to design the new Apprenticeship Standards at the Tech Partnership. During this time John was ensuring employers, providers and Awarding Organisations requirements were aligned to the government requirements and regulations to enhance the learners experience, qualifications and competencies whilst beginning their IT careers.
John now heads up Apprenticeships at BCS offering the new Apprenticeship Standards End Point Assessments for all the Digital and IT Apprenticeships. His aim is to bring both employers and providers together to ensure the highest quality provision and support can be offered through BCS to support the learners in their career development and closing the existing Digital and IT skills gaps.
Robyn Harley is Just IT’s Senior Operations Manager, responsible for overseeing the delivery of the organisations’ Apprenticeship & Traineeship programmes. Robyn has a wealth of experience within the sector, with experience in supporting Apprenticeships, managing several large contracts and a large group of Assessors. Robyn’s experience has meant that she’s seen countless apprentices progress which has instilled a passion for helping young people start out in their careers.
